    III. Experimental Courses

3.1 Topic One: Touches from the Distant Past (All Ages)
  • Content: Through theoretical courses and dissection experiments, identify common marine organisms in the near sea, understand their external morphological characteristics and the differences in internal organs between fish and cephalopods. Investigate the growth ring patterns of cuttlefish shells and their relationship with individual size.

  • 3.2 Topic Two: Exploring the Intertidal Ecosystem (All Ages)
  • Content: Conduct underwater ecological surveys, visit the aquatic ecological environment governance demonstration area, and observe the historical contributions of the "China Fisheries Law Enforcement Vessel 206." Complete the construction of an ecosystem based on ecological research.

  • 3.3 Plan Three: The Hidden Stowaways (All Ages)
  • Content: Relying on the ballast water detection platform of the National Engineering Research Center for Special Equipment and Power Systems in Ships and Oceans, explore the diversity of marine life. Learn about the unique survival skills of these tiny, often invisible creatures and their importance to the marine ecosystem. Design experiments to capture these "stowaways."

  • 3.4 Plan Four: Marine Outdoor Rescue and Wilderness Survival Challenge (All Ages)
  • Content: Based on the lakeside camp and outdoor rescue base of Shanghai Ocean University, conduct a series of marine fire safety and unexpected disaster drills, wilderness survival camping, and quality expansion activities. Enhance knowledge and skills in wilderness survival and outdoor safety.

  • 3.5 Plan Five: Biodiversity of Nearshore Aquatic Ecosystems and Simulation Construction (All Ages)
  • Content: Investigate the biological composition of nearshore aquatic ecosystems. Learn about the types of aquatic plants and animals through the creation of paludariums, and understand the construction methods of nearshore ecosystems.

  • 3.6 Plan Six: Tasting the Flavor of the Sea (All Ages)
  • Content: Combining the disciplinary characteristics of Shanghai Ocean University, experience activities such as "fish bone painting," "crab regeneration," and "marine specimen photo-taking" to showcase the culture of the sea in a new way.

  • 3.7 Plan Seven: Marine Engineering—Design and Manufacturing of Marine Vessel Components (All Ages)
